What Changed for 2027
Stellantis Canada's "Canada Press Kit: 2027 Ram Heavy Duty", dated July 27, 2026, is the source for this section. It covers the 2500 and the 3500 together.
A higher GVWR on some HEMI 3500s. The kit says Ram 3500 4x4 single rear wheel trucks with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8, in the Regular Cab with the 8 foot box and the Crew Cab with the 6 foot 4 inch box, now offer a maximum GVWR of 5,189 kg (11,440 lb). It puts the increase at 181 kg (400 lb) over 2026, raising both GVWR and payload capability. For a slide in camper, or a slip tank and toolbox in the box at seeding, that is the change that matters, and the GVWR of a given truck is on its door jamb label.
The kit's other heavy duty changes that reach the 3500 trims:
- Sport Appearance and Night Edition packages are now offered on the Level 1 and Level 2 Equipment Groups, no longer only on the Level 1 Plus and Level 2 Plus groups.
- A Sport Performance hood is a standalone option on Big Horn models with the Night Edition or Sport Appearance package.
- The Laramie gets expanded RamBox availability and new optional body colour fender flares.
- Trucks with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8 get a new Symbol of Protest fender badge.
- Two new colours, Serrano Green Metallic and Tank Clear Coat, both with late availability.

Ram 3500 Trims for 2027
Stellantis Canada's kit lists nine 2027 heavy duty trims for the 2500 and 3500 together: Tradesman, Black Express, Warlock, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited and Limited Longhorn. According to Stellantis Canada, the Black Express is a 2500 Crew Cab only, and the Rebel and the Power Wagon are 2500 Crew Cabs with the 6 foot 4 inch box. In Canada, the 2027 Power Wagon is also gas only, with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8. Tradesman
The Tradesman is the work truck, for a box that gets a toolbox and a hitch that gets used every week. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Tradesman lists a trailer brake controller with trailer light check, a Class V hitch receiver with 4 and 7 pin wiring, an LED hitch lamp in the tailgate and tow hooks, and, on a 4x4, an electronic shift on the fly part time transfer case. It also lists keyless push button start, a vinyl 40/20/40 split front bench and Uconnect 5 with an 8.4 inch touchscreen. For 2027, a Tradesman with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8 wears the new Symbol of Protest fender badge.
Big Horn
The Big Horn is the heavy duty that works the yard all week and still looks right parked at the rink on Saturday. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Big Horn lists a cloth 40/20/40 split bench with manual four way driver and front passenger seats, premium vinyl door trim, a chrome surround grille with a black insert, chrome bumpers and its own Big Horn badge. For 2027, according to Stellantis Canada, Sport Appearance reaches every Big Horn equipment group and Night Edition every Big Horn, Laramie and Limited equipment group. The kit also makes the Sport Performance hood a standalone option on Big Horn models with the Night Edition or Sport Appearance package.
Laramie
The Laramie is where the heavy duty turns into a truck you live in as well as work from. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Laramie lists dual zone automatic temperature control, a 10 speaker premium audio system with subwoofer, remote proximity passive entry with keyless push button start, a power sliding rear window, a universal garage door opener, a security alarm and a chrome billet grille with a chrome surround. Passive entry is the feature you notice in January, with a coffee in one hand and mitts on. For 2027, the kit expands RamBox availability on the Laramie and adds optional body colour fender flares, and Stellantis Canada lists the RamBox as a new Laramie option. Limited and Limited Longhorn
The Limited is the premium heavy duty, and the Limited Longhorn is the same truck with its own interior treatment. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Limited lists, among its step ups from the Laramie, premium leather front bucket seats with a full length centre console, a leather wrapped real wood steering wheel, a 10.25 inch front passenger interactive display, dual wireless charging pads, wheel to wheel side steps, a power release tailgate, rain sensitive wipers and directional headlamps. Stellantis Canada lists the Limited Longhorn with its own leather and wood interior treatment, heated front and rear outboard seats and ventilated front seats. For 2027, according to Stellantis Canada, Night Edition reaches every Limited equipment group. These are the trucks for the buyer who tows the fifth wheel on the long weekend and drives the Trans-Canada to Winnipeg the rest of the week.
Ram 3500 Engines, Towing and Payload
The figures in this section come from Ram Canada's 2027 Ram 3500 capability page on ramtruck.ca and Stellantis Canada's 2027 heavy duty press kit, each named beside its number. Ram Canada gives its towing and payload figures as maximums for a properly equipped truck, and says options, equipment, passengers and cargo can change them. Your own truck's payload and GVWR are on its door jamb label and its build is on the window sticker, so ask our team for the towing rating of that exact configuration. Manitoba Public Insurance's Trailer Safety brochure says trailer brakes are required by law when the trailer's registered gross vehicle weight is more than 1,360 kg (2,998 lb). That is far below a 3500's towing maximum, so a trailer loaded anywhere near a 3500's rating needs its own brakes.
6.4 litre HEMI V8. 429 lb ft of torque, with an eight speed automatic, according to Stellantis Canada's kit. Up to 7,590 lb (3,443 kg) maximum payload, according to Ram Canada's 2027 Ram 3500 capability page, which lists the HEMI as standard on Regular Cab and Crew Cab models. 6.7 litre Cummins High Output turbo diesel inline six. 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb ft, with an eight speed automatic, according to Stellantis Canada's kit. Up to 36,620 lb (16,611 kg) maximum towing, according to Ram Canada's 2027 Ram 3500 capability page, which lists the Cummins as standard on Mega Cab models and available on Regular Cab and Crew Cab models. Which engine for which job. Stellantis Canada's kit puts the higher 3500 payload maximum on the HEMI and the higher 3500 towing maximum on the Cummins.
Cab, box and drive. The kit offers its heavy duty trucks as a 4x2 or a 4x4, as a Regular Cab with the 8 foot box, a Crew Cab with the 6 foot 4 inch box, a Crew Cab with the 8 foot box, or a Mega Cab with the 6 foot 4 inch box, and the Mega Cab only as a 4x4. The kit's GVWR change names single rear wheel 3500s, so ask our team which cab, box and rear wheel setup the 3500 you want comes in.
Suspension, brakes and fuel. The kit keeps the 3500 on a rear Hotchkiss leaf spring suspension, and both the kit and Ram Canada's 2027 Ram 3500 page list an available rear air suspension; the window sticker shows whether a given truck has it. Choosing a Ram 3500 in Manitoba

Start with the heaviest thing the truck will carry or pull, and where it sits. The work decides the trim. If the truck lives in the yard and on gravel, the Tradesman or the Big Horn puts the money into the truck's capability. If it commutes Highway 1 into Winnipeg and pulls the camper on long weekends, the Laramie or the Limited is the better place to spend.
