What Changed for 2027
Stellantis Canada's "Canada Press Kit: 2027 Ram Heavy Duty", dated July 27, 2026, is the source for this section. It covers the 2500 and the 3500 together, and the changes it lists are packages, options, badges and colours:
- The Power Wagon, gas only in Canada with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8, gets a new optional beadlock capable wheel package.
- A Warn electric winch becomes a standalone option on the Power Wagon and on a Rebel with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8, no longer requiring the Level 1 Equipment Group.
- A Sport Performance hood is a standalone option on the Rebel and the Power Wagon, and on the Big Horn with the Night Edition or Sport Appearance package.
- The Sport Appearance and Night Edition packages are now offered on the Level 1 and Level 2 Equipment Groups.
- The Laramie gets expanded RamBox availability and new optional body colour fender flares.
- Trucks with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8 get a new Symbol of Protest fender badge. Stellantis Canada's What's New release of the same day puts it in Satin Black on the Tradesman, Black Express, Warlock, Rebel, Power Wagon and Night Edition trucks.

Ram 2500 Trims Sold in Canada
Stellantis Canada's kit lists nine 2027 heavy duty trims: Tradesman, Black Express, Warlock, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited and Limited Longhorn. The kit lists them for the 2500 and 3500 together, so ask our team whether the trim you want comes as a 2500 in the cab and box you need. Tradesman
The Tradesman is the work truck, for a box that gets a toolbox and a hitch that gets used. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Tradesman comes standard with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8 and an eight speed automatic, with the 6.7 litre Cummins High Output turbo diesel as the option. It lists a trailer brake controller, a Class V hitch receiver with 4 and 7 pin wiring and an LED hitch lamp in the tailgate, and, on a 4x4, an electronic shift on the fly part time transfer case. It also lists a vinyl 40/20/40 split front bench, Uconnect 5 with an 8.4 inch touchscreen and 17 or 18 inch black painted steel wheels. Black Express
The Black Express is the work truck dressed for town, with the brightwork gone. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Black Express is a 2500 Crew Cab only, and against the Tradesman it lists a Sport Performance hood, body colour bumpers, a body colour grille surround with a black insert, 20 inch black painted aluminum wheels with on and off road tires, power exterior tow mirrors, Mopar black tubular side steps and front and rear park assist. Inside, it lists a cloth 40/20/40 split bench and carpet. A Black Express with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8 wears the Satin Black Symbol of Protest badge for 2027.
Warlock
The Warlock is the step into an off road heavy duty, and Stellantis Canada describes it as value packed. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Warlock lists Goodyear Duratrac all terrain tires on 20 inch black painted diamond cut aluminum wheels, front and rear Bilstein off road shocks, a rear anti spin differential, hill descent control and an electronic shift on the fly part time transfer case, with a black grille, bumpers and wheel flares and a Warlock decal. A Warlock with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8 wears the Satin Black Symbol of Protest badge for 2027. It suits a buyer on gravel who wants the tires and the shocks without the Rebel's interior and electronics.
Big Horn
The Big Horn is the heavy duty that works the yard all week and still looks right parked at the rink on Saturday. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Big Horn lists chrome bumpers, a chrome surround grille with a black insert, 18 inch polished aluminum wheels, a cloth 40/20/40 split bench with manual four way driver and front passenger seats, and premium vinyl door trim. For 2027, the kit makes the Sport Performance hood a standalone option on the Big Horn with the Night Edition or Sport Appearance package, and according to Stellantis Canada, Sport Appearance and Night Edition now reach every Big Horn equipment group. Laramie
The Laramie is where the heavy duty turns into a truck you live in as well as work from. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Laramie comes standard with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8, with the 6.7 litre Cummins High Output turbo diesel as the option. It lists dual zone automatic temperature control, a 10 speaker premium audio system with subwoofer, remote proximity passive entry with push button start, a power sliding rear window, a chrome billet grille and 18 inch diamond cut aluminum wheels with black painted pockets. Passive entry is the feature you notice in January, with a coffee in one hand and mitts on. For 2027, the kit expands RamBox availability on the Laramie and adds optional body colour fender flares, and Stellantis Canada lists the RamBox as a new Laramie option. Rebel
The Rebel is the off road heavy duty with the equipment of a family truck. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Rebel lists an electronic locking rear axle, Bilstein off road shocks, fuel tank, transfer case and front suspension skid plates, hill descent control, and Goodyear Duratrac all terrain tires on 20 inch black painted diamond cut aluminum wheels. It also lists remote start, blind spot monitoring with rear cross path detection, a power driver seat and Uconnect 5 NAV with a 12 inch touchscreen. Remote start earns its keep on a minus 30 morning at the end of a grid road. Power Wagon
Stellantis Canada's kit calls the Power Wagon the most off road capable production full size pickup with HEMI power. In Canada, the 2027 Power Wagon is gas only, with the 6.4 litre HEMI V8; no Cummins diesel Power Wagon is offered for 2027. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Power Wagon lists Ram's Articulink front suspension with an electronic disconnecting front sway bar, 17 inch black painted aluminum wheels with on and off road tires and a damped tailgate. For 2027, the kit adds an optional beadlock capable wheel package and a standalone Warn winch on the Power Wagon, and makes the Sport Performance hood a standalone option. It is the truck for the buyer whose trail, lease road or wet headland is the job itself.
Limited and Limited Longhorn
The Limited is the premium heavy duty, and the Limited Longhorn is the same truck with its own interior treatment. According to Stellantis Canada, the 2027 Limited lists, among its step ups from the Laramie, Uconnect 5 NAV with a 14.5 inch touchscreen, a 10.25 inch front passenger interactive display, premium leather front bucket seats with a full length centre console, a leather wrapped real wood steering wheel, dual wireless charging pads, wheel to wheel side steps, a power release tailgate, rain sensitive wipers and 20 inch diamond cut aluminum wheels. Stellantis Canada lists the Limited Longhorn with its own leather and wood interior treatment, heated front and rear outboard seats and ventilated front seats. For 2027, according to Stellantis Canada, Night Edition reaches every Limited equipment group. These are the trucks for the buyer who tows the fifth wheel on the long weekend and drives the Trans-Canada to Winnipeg the rest of the week.
Engines, Towing and Payload
Every engine, towing and payload figure here is from Stellantis Canada's 2027 heavy duty press kit, which prints each towing and payload figure as a maximum for that engine on a Ram 2500. The rating for a specific truck depends on its cab, box, drive, axle and equipment, and the number that counts for your trailer is on the door jamb label and the window sticker of that unit, not on a page. Manitoba Public Insurance's Trailer Safety brochure says trailer brakes are required by law when the trailer's registered gross vehicle weight is more than 1,360 kg (2,998 lb). That is well under both towing figures below, so a trailer loaded toward a 2500's rating needs its own brakes.
6.4 litre HEMI V8. 429 lb ft of torque, with a TorqueFlite eight speed automatic. Up to 17,740 lb maximum towing and up to 2,077 kg (4,580 lb) maximum payload; according to Stellantis Canada, both maximums are for a 2500 4x2 Regular Cab with the 8 foot box. That is the higher payload figure of the two engines.
6.7 litre Cummins High Output turbo diesel inline six. 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb ft, with a TorqueFlite HD eight speed automatic. Up to 9,072 kg (20,000 lb) maximum towing and up to 1,810 kg (3,990 lb) maximum payload. That is the higher towing figure of the two. Ram Canada's 2027 Ram 2500 page calls the 1,075 lb ft best in class available base diesel torque, in a class it defines as 250 and 2500 pickups, when properly equipped with the available 6.7 litre diesel.
Cab, box and drive. The kit offers the 2500 as a 4x2 or a 4x4, as a Regular Cab with the 8 foot box, a Crew Cab with the 6 foot 4 inch box, a Crew Cab with the 8 foot box, or a Mega Cab with the 6 foot 4 inch box, and the Mega Cab only as a 4x4.
Suspension and towing technology. The kit lists a five link coil rear suspension on the 2500 and an available automatic levelling rear air suspension, and Ram Canada's 2027 Ram 2500 page calls the 2500's rear suspension systems class exclusive. The kit's towing technology list includes trailer reverse steering control, Trailer Tow Detection with blind spot monitoring, and heated power trailer tow mirrors; the window sticker shows which of them a given truck has.

Here is how we would walk a buyer through the choice across the desk at Dunn Ram Trucks in Portage la Prairie.
Start with the heaviest thing the truck will carry or pull, and where it sits. A slide in camper, a slip tank and toolbox at seeding or a sander in the box all sit on the truck, and by the kit's own figures the HEMI 2500 has the higher payload maximum, 2,077 kg against the Cummins at 1,810 kg. A gooseneck stock trailer, a fifth wheel to the Whiteshell or a loaded grain trailer sits behind it, and there the Cummins 2500 has the higher towing maximum, 20,000 lb against 17,740 lb. Cold is the next question. A diesel that lives outside at minus 30 needs a plan for the morning, so before you sign, ask our team whether the unit's window sticker shows an engine block heater; our service department installs block heaters. Manitoba Public Insurance says qualifying tires must display the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol and, effective October 1, 2026, "must also be designed and marketed solely for winter driving conditions, including snow and ice." Tires marketed as all weather, all season, four season or year round no longer qualify, even with that symbol.
Then the drive and the cab, which are the hardest choices to change later. On a section road, or a yard where the approach drifts in, the 4x4 is the one to price. A 4x2 Regular Cab is the build behind the HEMI's payload maximum, and it suits a yard or town truck that stays on pavement. A crew that rides together needs the Crew Cab or the Mega Cab, and long loads in the bed point to the 8 foot box.
Gravel decides the trim. If your mail comes down a grid road, the Warlock and the Rebel earn their all terrain tires and Bilstein off road shocks, and the Power Wagon its Articulink front suspension. If the truck commutes Highway 1 into Winnipeg and parks in a garage, the Laramie or the Limited is the better place to spend.
